    Hi,

I have a Parallels 5 Image with Windows XP which has a defect boot record - that means which cannot be rebooted.
Trying so ends in a bluescreen. Since nearly a year I am using this machine without reboot, just standby.
Problems: nothing can be done that needs a reboot, e.g. port to Parallels 6 because parallels tools need reboot, or no compressor etc.

Are there any Ideas how to clone this machine into a new one with a well doing master boot record?
Is it possible to use the transporter?

    Thanks
    Alex

How do you know the problem is with the MBR? If the problem is really with the MBR, then can't you just repair it in Windows?

It might be possible to use the transporter. Install the Transporter agent to the virtual machine then do a migrate to a new virtual machine. Read the Parallels Transporter User’s Guide for more info.

    Hi Joe

i do not really Know that the mbr is defect, but the machine does not boot After shut down.
It goes into an endless loop
I also tried several Times to restore the mbr by means of Windows without success
Now i will try the transporter and am hoping that the Installation of the agent does Not Need a reboot...

    Best regards Alex
