HELP: Install Win3.11 (6 .img files) >> howto?

I have been googling and searching these forums for quite a while now and I can't figure out how to install Windows 3.11

I have Parallels 1896.2 and my VM is set for Windows 3.11

I can't use the .img files to boot from floppy, so what should I do?

I renamed them to .fdd but it did not work.

Use the Parallels image tool and create an iso image for each disk. Use the CD drive in your vm machine to read the iso image(s). I am sure they are other ways, this one just came to mind.

Or, you might could use a USB floppy drive...

Tried using the image tool and it says Non-system Disk Error Replace Disk and Try Again

What I need is windows 98 to make a bootable diskette to get me to a dos prompt or something...

    Try making a CD...

If you have the floppy disks, you can copy all of the files to a single CD and the installation will go fine (as long as the installation process finds the text files it is looking for when it runs through the process - For Win 3.11 I simply dumped all of the files onto a single CD-ROM - worked like a champ (after booting from the MS DOS boot disk).

Be sure to update the OS to be Y2K compliant, add the TCPIP networking component from microsoft, etc. to be able to use the network.

I have Win 3.11 running successfully, albeit without sound. I have been unable thus far to find drivers that work.

If you get stuck, let me know....

Let me know if you get sound :)

dotcomjunkie, I have been able to get my Win 3.11 installation working with sound (I've only tested with the 4 sounds available in Windows, but it works) by using some files originally packaged for VMware on the PC, but was able to get them working on Parallels.

However, the site I got it from is a torrent site, and I'm not sure if I would be allowed to post the link here.

I used a Windows program to copy the files to a virtual floppy so I could follow the instructions as they are in the torrent for the sound set-up, but you could probably mount your .hdd and place the file in there and run it from there under DOS.

Anyways, I'd love to help with your sound problem, so if posting of torrent links are allowed, please tell me and I can provide you the link.

Oh, could you tell me how to make Windows 3.11 "Y2K compliant"? Haven't seen anything about that before.
