I upgraded two Macs from Parallels Desktop 8 to Parallels Desktop 9 both Macs running OS X 10.9.1. Besides Parallels Desktop I also use VMware Fusion, version 5 on my MacBook and version 6 on my Mac Pro. Immediately after the upgrade procedure the virtual machine icons were missing on both Macs and the finder info displayed VMware Fusion als the "application to open with". In Pathfinder info all parallels virtual machines are now classified as "Kind: Parallels virtual machine" but with a UTI: com.vmware.foreign.pvm. Finder info does not show the UTI field. I suspect that during the uninstallation procedure of PD8 all parallels virtual machines had been assigned to VMware. I manually reassigned PD 9 as default application to open with but this did not change the UTI. Is there a simple way to get this fixed? BTW: I had a similar configuration (PD + VMware Fusion) and no problems when I upgraded from PD7 to PD8 but this was on OS X 10.6 and OS X 10.8 Thanks in advance, Martin
