I frequently switch between "shared networking" and "bridged networking". That is because at home my Internet comes from ppp0 and at work it comes from en[0-9]. Normally I have to `killall -TERM dhclient3` and `dhclient3 eth0` to make it getting a new IP address. I just attempted to automated this through ifplugd. Unfortunately none of the ifplugd supported methods (iff, wlan, ethtool, MII, priv) seem to work. Windows guests use the parallels network driver and there support seems to be integrated. Is there such a Parallels specific network adapter available for Linux as well or would it be possible to get one of the above methods implemented in the host part? Maybe there's a "vendor specific" enhancement to the ne2k interface that can be used? I would volunteer a patch if documentation would be provided to me. Thanks, Dirk.
Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately Linux Parallels Network driver exists only for the Parallels Desktop 4.0
