I just installed Parallels 4 after having used Virtualbox for a while. I have a Windows 7 Pro installation currently on Virtualbox with a filename "Windows 7.vdi" My question is how do i import that into Parallels 4. When I use to import wizard, it doesn't seem to recognize the vdi image at all. Maybe I'm not using the correct options in the wizard. Do any of you have experience doing this successfully?
I'm also trying to import from VirtualBox (my VMs have been touched by the latest VirtualBox if that matters) and iI'm trying to migrate using ParallelsDesktop-parallels-en_US-4.0.3846.436204. It seems that when pointed to even a normal, not dynamic, .vdi, "an error occurs." Trying to import a VM which uses the same normal .vdi, after ignoring a warning that there is no operating system (I have XP in the .vdi) it appears that Parallels doesn't look at the .vdi. I have a trail license which is ticking away, and I think I've already spent enough time trying to get this garbage to work, converting my dynamic .vdi to a normal one. There is, ostensibly, very little support for Parallels. If there is no solution offered, I will happily continue using VirtualBox.
