I'm trying to access an IR device inside of windows. I choose the "IR Receiver" from the USB popup menu in the lower right of the parallels, screen but I always get the following error: "USB Device you are trying to connect to the virtual machine is being used by another process...."

I assume this has to do with Front Row in Mac OSX waiting for an input from my remote. I haven't been able to figure out how to turn this off or disable it. I tried disabling the IR adapter in System Preferences -> Security, but that didn't work.

    Anybody gotten this to work?

    Thanks!

I'm using Parallels on MacBook Pro and having the same problem.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
    Thanks!

I would suspect that the first obstacle even if you could stop OSX from using the device, will be the fact that theres not windows drivers for the IR device, so Paralles can discover it, but wont install any drivers... Perhaps you can rip them out of bootcamp, tho not ever having used bootcamp, i dont know whether it supports the IR device.

I guess, (tho ive not tried) that if you copied AppleIRController.kext from /System/Library/Extentions to your desktop, then deleted the original and rebooted OSX, that I wouldnt load the IR driver in OSX...

Of course, without testing it, you do this under your own volition.

Windows will want to load drivers for the device, which is where you may need to look toward the device drivers that bootcamp offers up.
