I've looked through the forums and noticed that I'm not the only person who hit this problem. If this is old new, sorry!

I couldn't get the install to go smoothly on my gateway laptop, I would get a program crash on network driver install. Parallels would then finnish the install and VMs would run fine, just no network. I narrowed the problem down to my wifi card (Intel Broadcom, labeled as Centrino). By removing the wifi card from the hardware profile, I could then install parallels.

Wired networking is working just fine now, but I haven't re-enabled my wifi yet. I'll post a follow up when I get there!

Hope this helps anyone else who was hitting this problem.
