Create VM from dead laptop's hard drive? Hi, I'm not sure if this is possible but thought I'd ask. My Dell laptop recently died on me (motherboard I'm guessing) but my drive is still working great. I've read about Transporter but from what I understand, that requires software to be installed on the machine that it is pulling the OS from. However, the machine is no longer functioning. Now that I've put the laptop's drive into a USB enclosure, is there anyway I can create a VM using the OS installation that's on the drive? The drive is partitioned into two drives and I would be stoked if I could get a VM running exactly as my laptop was running. If anyone knows if this is possible, please let me know. I've searched and when I think I've found something relevent, it turns out to not be the situation I'm trying to accomplish. Thank you! Cheers, Anthony
You could always install bootcamp if you can't find another PC. Transporter may be happy with an installation on an external disk -- I haven't tried it.
