I am using MacBook Pro 2.4mhz, 4 GIG RAM and Parallels Desktop 4.0 using Windows Pro XP. I am thinking of upgrading to Windows 7 Premium or Pro. Should I install a 32bit or 64bit version using Parallels Desktop 4.0? Does Parallels Desktop 4.0 support 64bit version?
I rund Windows 7 64 bit in Parallels since about a week, I have one issue with a USB driver (could easily be this also would be an issue with 32 bit), but overall its amazingly stable.
The main reason for using Windows 64 bit is to be able to use more than 4 GB of memory. So if you don't want to assign more than 4 GB to the vm (and as you have a Macbook Pro with 4 GB of total memory this won't be the case) why should you run Windows 64 bit?
"The main reason for using Windows 64 bit is to be able to use more than 4 GB of memory" While the main reason may be to access more than 4 GB of RAM, a 64-bit processor/software certainly uses the 4GB RAM more efficiently, runs video faster, and process calculations faster than a 32-bit with 4 GB RAM
