Trying to install on mavericks, the program hangs at "checking for updates". Tech support says I need to have our network admin open up ports in our firewall? But which ones???

Turns out this is a known bug with installation -- hanging on "checking for new software." I assume it has nothing to do with my company network. See here: http://kb.parallels.com/en/118607

However, these instructions don't say anything. In particular, what does it mean to "Check for Updates" in step five?? I've downloaded the software a number of time (on two computers) and installation still hangs. I've spoken to two tech support people who have no answers.

I'm extremely frustrated - Can anyone help??

    Hi marktpa,

The latest update is also available for manual download.

You may use this option if Parallels Desktop does not start and you are unable to check for updates from within the product.

Download Parallels Desktop 9 for Mac (latest update) from here: http://www.parallels.com/directdownload/pd9/

Follow this article for installation instructions: http://kb.parallels.com/116989

    Thanks,
    Looran
