So I'm thinking of installing Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro, buy I'm in doubt now.

1: When during the setup in Parallels, it asks how much ram and stuff, I wanna use on my virtual machine. So my question here is, I have a MacBook Pro 8gb ram, and if I tell the virtual machine to use 4GB ram, will it transfer 4Gb ram to the virtual machine so there is only 4gb left on my mac? Or does it only use 4gb when the virtual machine is open, so I still have 8gb ram on my Mac, when not using the virtual machine? I don't hope it splits my ram, because I want my Mac to take advantage of all 8gb ram, and still have a virtual machine installed and only using ram when opened.

2: Is Parallels 6, compatible with Mac os x lion?

    Thanks

It uses the ram while you are using the vm. When the vm is turned off your MBP will have all the ram.

To be honest, some people have had issues. But I believe that is with bootcamp.
I would search the knowledge base for question 2, if I had any concerns.

    Thank you for your concern.
I am glad that you responded, and that Parallels is now something right for me.

I think I'm going to search for the second question.
