    Hey guys,

I downloaded a trial of Parallels. I'm using a Macbook Pro 2012. I upgraded it with 16GB of RAM (bought second hand for £64) and an SSD (bought from amazon). So it's not bad.

And nor is Parallels. It actually works really well. I wanted to try it out, because my new phone (Sony Xperia SP) simply won't synchronise music properly. It does, but it takes 45 minutes to do 5.5 GB running pure OS X. That's slow.

Windows 7 on Parallels manages to do 5.1 GB in 1 hour 5 minutes, so that's slower, but not Parallels fault. Anyway, that's all by-the-by, but I thought it might be useful to know why I'm testing Parallels.

As software goes, it works very well, it's easy to use, blah blah blah. Thing is, I have a few serious concerns:

    1) I'd like to know why we're limited to a set number of tech support tickets. Why? I've asked for support from other companies plenty of times, many of which have been total PEBKAC errors, yet they've never complained or told me I had a limited number of requests left. In fact, with a few exceptions, there have been no problems. So... er... why?

    2) Why is it using some much HDD Space? It's using something like 70GB of space on my SSD, which is not idea. It's a 250GB SSD, and I have lots of space to spare, but I have literally just the OS and the Sony transfer software for the phone. That isn't 70GB worth of data. I used to run Windows 7 on a 64GB SSD, and I always had a lot of space left, even with quite a few programs. Not sure what's going on here. Maybe I forgot to check the "don't waste my hard drive space" option, but I couldn't find it.

    3) £64 does not equate to $79. That's actually $107. This is software, and there are no shipping costs. I really don't know why UK users are being charged such a premium. I understand this is a US company. I thought we had a "special relationship". I am disappointed that we are being charged so much more. ; (

    4) Why do we have to pay £5 just to have the freedom to redownload the program? Quite a few companies do this, but Steam doesn't, and they have people with games libraries perhaps reaching 2-3TB. Parallels isn't that big, is it?

Parallels is an awesome program. It works really well, and you can't say that about a lot of programs. I really, really want to buy it. I don't imagine I'd have a huge use for it, but I'm sure it would come in handy. Thing is, there are just too many reasons not to. If I spend £64 on a product, I expect tech support, and I expect to be able to download the program more than just once. I feel like I'm being ripped off on the price just because "we can get away with it".

I'm so disappointed, because it is obviously a great product, but I am not so sure about the company. Are you a company whose work I want to support? I believe in supporting programmers, but this seems a bit much.
