When I am working in Windows XP Pro applications on the vm, I am getting intermittent black screens for periods of time. I can be in the middle of typing something and the screen goes completely black (I have the guest OS running on a second monitor). The black screen can last for milliseconds or several seconds. While I've typed the above, the screen has blacked out five times, but only for very brief periods. I can work for differing periods of time before this happens or it can be almost continual from reawakening Windows. This is driving me nuts. Any explanations/fixes or do I need to call India so they can see it happen? TobyT
are you running build 9310? I very rarely also get artifacts (e.g. a fat black line across the screen) but with each Parallels 5 build these have become less frequent. If they show up I get them after doing something that's really taxing the graphics card and / or memory intensive. On my rig they're very brief, though, nevel more than maybe .5 seconds.
Build 9308? Shaddam, thanks for replying. I'm running Build 9308. I hadn't gotten any notice about an upgrade. Do you think it would be worth trying Parallels Update? My totally black screens vary somewhat in length, but I've no way to time them. It is really annoying . . . I can be in the middle of typing something and the screen goes absolutely black. While this can sometimes be intermittent, at others it is almost constant and I have to give up working. TobyT
I'm getting the same thing ( black areas, and only certain areas re-drawing ) - MBA, SL, Win7. I didn't have this graphics problem with Parallels 4, and updated due to hearing about the performance increases in Parallels 5. With the black area problem ( dirty rectangle update issues? ), any increased performance ( which I haven't noticed ) is outweighed by the fact that I have to continue to minimise and maximise the app ( or maximise and minimise another app, eg Windows Explorer ( or use the Show Desktop button twice ) in order to see what's going on.
