Intermittent high CPU usage

  1. I have noticed when running Parallels 7 with Windows 7 32 bit that their is high CPU usage in OS X Lion by confirming with Activity Monitor the high CPU (as much as 103%) seems to happen even when no Windows programs are being used. I am wodering if anyone else has noticed this. It lasts a few minutes then the percentage goes back to around 3%. I know its has to do with Parallels the thread is "prl_vm_app" and its the Windows thread for the OS VM. But not sure what would be causing it?

  2. Followup

So I am certain that the Windows 7 is the cause of the high CPU usage. But I have not determined what its doing to cause such a long demand for CPU use? I thought at first it may be doing a Windows update or the Anti Virus was doing something. But so far nothing has stood out. I have had similar issues as some others have reported with Windows Explorer crashing. What I have also noticed using Internet Explorer 9 is that sometimes its very fast then other times it slow to a snails pace? Things I have tried have been to change Parallels settings for performance,3D settings off/On and change them to Windows Basic. Thus far turning off Aero theme has worked the best to stabilize Windows. Its possible the Drivers parallels is using maybe causing the problems or at least some of them.
