I just recently upgraded my Windows XP to Windows 7 Professional 32-bit and now I have no connection on parallels. I did have it on Windows XP, and I still have it on my mac, but when I use the VM I cant seem to get a connection, and I am set to shared networking.
Try reinstalling Parallels Tools. If that doesn't work then shutdown the virtual machine, go to Virtual Machine -> Configure -> Hardware, select Network Adapter and press - to remove it. Then press + to add a new one. Then start the virtual machine. If that doesn't work, then what does the command "ipconfig" say? Check the status of the network adapter devices. Computer -> Manage -> Device Manager -> Network adapters. Also try Scan for hardware changes.
I have done all of the above, and still nothing. When i tried ipconfig in command, it said ethernet adapter local area connection, and then under that it said like 5 things with i'm guessing ip's after them, except only the middle three had something there
The Device Manager didn't tell you anything? Does it list a network adapter? Did it say the network adapter was working properly? You can copy and paste stuff from the cmd window. Right click the cmd window and select "Select All". Then press Enter to copy. Then paste it in a text editor on the Mac side to remove all the unnecessary stuff.
yeah it says that it is functioning properly its called "parallels ethernet adapter", Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600] Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. I have the following (shared networking): Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : localdomain Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::f0b6:8d51:76b5:7d11%18 IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 10.211.55.13 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 10.211.55.1 Check the Network preferences at Parallels Desktop -> Preferences... -> Network -> Shared Networking. I have the following settings: Enable DHCP Server Start address: 10.211.55.1 End address: 10.211.55.254 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 Subnet: 10.211.55.0 What are your settings? Try pressing the Restore Defaults button. If restoring defaults and restarting the VM doesn't work, then also post your Mac settings using ifconfig. My ethernet adapter looks like this: en1: flags=8963<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,PROMISC,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 ether 00:1f:5b:39:c8:bd inet6 fe80::21f:5bff:fe39:c8bd%en1 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x5 inet 192.168.0.193 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.0.255 media: autoselect (1000baseT <full-duplex,flow-control>) status: active
