Is it safe to delete Snapshots manually?

I can't get snapshot manager to run. It just hangs and never comes up. Unfortunately, my Vista install is taking 40GB. Can I delete the snapshots manually and try to run the compacting tool? I have seen other people ask this question in other threads but no response. The latest beta build does not correct the issue.

Worst case, I'll just abandon my Vista install and go back to an ancient and much smaller XP install.

I'd recommend attempting to merge your snapshots into the virtual disk using Parallels Image Tool before attempting to manually deleting the snapshots.

Thanks. Merging snapshots now in Image Tool. Hopefully I can compress after that.

Upon further messing around, Snapshot Manager is not hanging but the window is lost off-screen. If I press F9 for Expose I can see it, but can't move it back on-screen. I'm going nuts trying to find keyboard shortcuts to tile windows or stack them back on-screen. In Windows this would be easy (it hurts to say that). Grrrrr.

UPDATE: Using the Image Tool to merge the snapshots into the HD image worked. After doing so, I deleted the Snapshots folder and snapshots.xml file. Then I was able to compress the HD image with Parallels Tools.

My 40GB Vista folder (with 3 snapshots) was ultimately brought down to 12.2GB. Hooray! I also did the same for an XP image and it went from 19GB to 13GB.

Open the Terminal application (located in Applications > Utilities) while Parallels is not open and copy and paste this into it:
    Code:
    defaults write com.parallels.Parallels Parallels.MainApp.SSManagerXPos 0;defaults write com.parallels.Parallels Parallels.MainApp.SSManagerYPos 22
Then hit return and your snapshot manager window position should be reset.
