Hi, I'm just testing out this software and have a question. I want to run an application on a laptop which is installed on another computer. I have installed the application server software on the computer with the application and the x2 client software on the laptop. I've published the application and it shows up on the client ok but when I run it it just connects me to the "server" computer exactly like remote desktop would instead of just launching the application. What do I need to do to get the application to open up without launching the whole remote desktop? I just want to see the application. Thanks
oh dear no replies. Maybe this software doesn't do what I thought it might do. I can use remote desktop to connect to the server but what I want to do is just run the remote application without seeing the whole desktop which doesn't happen.
Hello, You might have option like "Always show full desktop" set in AD GP or you have some app launching on login on the TS.
Well, I can tell you it does... Not as a 2X employee or partner, but as a long-time user. Can you post here a screenshot of the Information tab of the specific application? Don't forget to erase from there any info you don't want on the Net ...
I've just installed 2X Application Server and had exactly the same behavior. I tried changing the app to maximized and by chance, logged out of the server before connecting with the same username. The requested app then opened up instead of the desktop. It now opens up as a normal window too. Hope this helps a bit? Cheers, Rob
I've had this issue before. Should be a simple fix. The issue is that you probably don't have the terminal services role installed yet. i.e. Windows is still configured to use RDP for remote desktop / remote administration only. Once you set it up as a proper terminal server (2003 or 2008), 2X should start publishing just the application.
