Kaspersky is "stuck"

    I initially turned to Kaspersky for support but after a few back and forths they referred me back to Parallels. ("They fine tune the application a bit.") The issue I'm having is that KIS 2011 reports infection (gadget and main window show red) but the files in the Quarantine window can't be deleted or cleared out of the list. These emails don't even exist anymore as they were purged from Thunderbird (and Inbox was compacted). I tried to deinstall KIS and then reinstall, but even using the special tool (kavremover.exe) and getting a supposedly successful deinstall, when I try to reinstall the installer detects some remnants of the previous install and it aborts. The repair function fails, when it looks for a "pis_setup.msi" file and can't find it. I wind up going back to the previous snapshot before my attempted fixes. KIS can get database updates and is apparently still scanning but these symptoms keep me worried. Anybody have any idea what to do? Would really appreciate the help, I'm stumped.
