When I check "Enable Mac OS X shortcuts", I am no longer able to type a lowercase 'a' into a window on my XPSP3 VM. I can type an uppercase 'A' as well as a CTRL-A. If I uncheck "Enable Mac OS X shortcuts", I'm able to type the character again. Does anyone have any idea what is going on or has anyone else seen this?

    Thanks,

    Found the problem

The symbolic hotkeys for F14 and F15 interfere with Parallels. I noticed on a desktop machine that both were enabled for raise/lower display brightness. When I unchecked them in the Keyboards pref pane shortcuts tab, my problem with the 'a' went away. The Macbook Pro was a bit more difficult. The keyboard pref pane on the MBP doesn't show the display shortcut since the MBP has built in brightness on F1 and F2. In order to show the shortcut, I had to plug in an old Mac keyboard that has F14 and F15. After doing that, I was able to to disable F14 and F15. I could also have edited ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist directly.
