I'm running Win XP Pro on iMac 10.6.8 using Parallels 6.0.12092. I have not upgraded either Apple or Parallels OS because I have no plans to ever upgrade the Windows OS. Not to Vista, Win 7 or 8. I've learned the hard way that upgrades designed for new OS platforms don't usually perform well on older systems. All my work is done on the XP guest. Problem: suddenly yesterday, after no upgrades of any kind to ANY piece of installed software, every time I hit the Ctrl key on my Logitech Apple-okay keyboard, I get the pop-up Windows Start Menu (which I've never used). It has made editing in WordPerfect impossible. Depending on how I click to close this pop-up menu, either the Shutdown menu OR Internet Explorer (never used) window is opened. Sometimes, I can close the pop-up Start Menu without either happening, but I can't get any work done at all. I've searched the web for a fix. I've tried using HotKey 104 to remap the Windows keyboard to no avail. The script will not fix the problem (although I've understood it works on vmware). Therefore, it has to be a Parallels remapping issue. I do not understand why this problem suddenly appeared yesterday for the first time EVER, nor do I have a clue how to fix it. Suggestions? TobyT
Solution to Problem After endless fiddling, switching keyboards, etc., I fixed the problem by changing out the batteries. Never mind that they'd been replaced in May - about 3 months ago! That solved the problem. This has been the second weird problem on the Logitech Multimedia keyboard which I've resolved by replacing fairly new batteries. Why only one key in this case was involved I've no idea. TobyT
