Kind of like OS X isn't even there?

    Hello.

I want to use Ubuntu as my primary OS, and I don't want OS X to interfere, however, I do want to run Ubuntu in Parallels.

What I mean when I say I don't want OS X to interfere is that I don't want, say, when I press the middle mouse button for expose to come up unless I'm in the OS X desktop.

Another example would be if I were to insert a DVD, I'd want Ubuntu's DVD player to come up as apposed to Apple's DVD Player.

    Thanks
    Jonny

You're dealing with parallels so, unfortunently, you're going to have OS X interfere with Ubuntu. As far as the DVD's goes, the disk should go directly to the guest OS unless you have something else set up so it doesn't. If I were you, I'd figure out some way to partition you OS X disk with disk utility in the utilities folder and then reinstall OS X on one of the partitions and Ubuntu on the other. I don't know if this is even possible but it's a possibility.

If you are going to partition for Ubuntu, boot camp WILL NOT WORK. It's specifically for windows.

I won't mess with your disk, though, until you're sure it will work.
