Hi. How can I limit the users of the 2x client, to only have access to published applications. Right now any user can go to File->Add New Terminal Server Connection, and get a full desktop, instead of just the published application. Is there any way to limit this serverside?
If you download Orca MSI editor, you can open up the 2X MSI Installer with it. There are many settings in the "Properties" section that you can edit to lock down the client. The guide here should help: http://www.2x.com/applicationserver/as_manual/2XApplicationServer-Installi-2.html I think the options you are specifically looking for are: DISABLEOPTIONS: To disable the Options button and hide the options to configure the client settings. This option can be applied to users without administrative rights. •0 – Options are enabled •1 – Options are disabled DISABLEOPTIONSADMIN: To disable the Options button and hide the options to configure the client settings. This option can be applied to users with administrative rights. •0 – Options are enabled •1 – Options are disabled Once done, just save the modified MSI and test it somewhere.
Aye, I am aware of this possibility, but this is not an option for us, as we cannot limit the settings on the 2x client for our clients. We need a serverside setting, so the loadbalancer or applicationserver will not accept desktop connections.
Rene, i think there isn't such an option to the default configuration of the 2X LB/AS environment, but further on i assume that your request is based on a business case that you have in conjunction with your current environment. If you don't mind please tell us why you are in need of this and maybe one of our consultants or s.o. else in here will have an idea or solution for you. We are a software house who is using 2x to give our client access to some of our applications remotely. As they should only be seeing the remote application, and not have full terminal services access to our environment, we would like to make sure that they cannot just configure the client to access the full desktop on our servers. While we have policies setup, to limit what they can do even if they got on, I would be happier if I could stop them from having this option altogether.
Please chcek the "Clients" category in main console. You can force client settings and disable all option on the client. Different policies can be added depending from the username or group
