DirectX 12 Windows limitations prevent running of many modern Windows games in Parallels. The Steam on the Steam Deck can play native Linux games, or use Proton play many Windows games. Steam in Linux I believe can do likewise. Is it possible to use Parallels to install Linux, and use Steam in Linux to play games? If so what is the best Linux for this? Would this just be able to play Linux native games, or could it use Steam/Proton to also play Windows games? If ARM would be limiting would Ubuntu with Rosetta work better for gaming?
I tried Ubuntu and Ubuntu with Rosetta. Both work fine, but I cannot install Steam on either due to missing 386 files. I read the online help to install the missing libraries but when I try I get a message that no appropriate files are available for downloading. Is there a way to install Steam on linux running on Apple silicon? Or is this not possible until Steam makes an ARM version?
