Problem summary
When using v 8.50.133 of Logitech Gaming Software for the mac it appears that keypresses sent from the Logitech Gaming Software for the mac via mouse button bindings are correctly detected in the UI that is used to set up Shortcuts in parallels, but not at runtime in windows. At runtime it appears that mouse-generated keypresses are not sending modifier keys.
Problem description
I am using the latest Logitech Gaming Software for Mac (v 8.50.133) to map the G7 button on my Logitech G700 mouse to "Command-]" in MacOS. In parallels 9 (v 9.0.23046 Revision 917896) I have mapped a shortcut from "Command-]" key in MacOS to "Control-<right arrow>" in Windows.
This works correctly when I press Command-] on the *keyboard*. I know this works correctly because it makes Internet Explorer pages perform the "forward" action, which means that the key combination is being detected and remapped correctly by Parallels
However, when I press the G7 button on my *mouse*, Parallels only send "]" to Windows. It appears that Parallels is not recognizing the modifier key's presence when the command is sent via the mouse instead of the keyboard, and thereby not performing the shortcut remapping.
I know that the mouse is correctly sending Command-] and not just "]" because of the following:
- A) the MacOS keyboard viewer shows the Command modifier active when G7 is pressed
- B) if I use the parallels shortcut mapper to create a new shortcut, and click in the "From" box, and then press G7, Parallels registers Command-] as being pressed
Workaround
The same setup works correctly when using Logitech Gaming Software for Mac version 8.46.19 (ftp://ftp.logitech.com//pub/techsupport/gaming/LogitechSetup_8.46.19.dmg) but does not work when using version 8.50.133 (ftp://ftp.logitech.com//pub/techsupport/gaming/LogitechSetup_8.50.133.dmg). I have confirmed this by rolling back to v 8.46.19 and testing that mouse presses work again.
