I'm helping someone with a brand new 27" iMac, OSX 10.6.1. He has twice in two or three days had an issue when running Parallels where he loses most of his control over the Mac, it appears as though Windows in the VM is responding to some of the things he does, even though it does not have focus. Click on Apple | Force Quit, nothing happens, no list of apps appears. Run Terminal and type commands, they echo on the terminal screen but nothing happens in response. It acts like TextEdit, showing what you type but not recognising it should respond. The screen is blank, not the usual command prompt. In the midst of all this, hit the Command button on the keyboard and the Windows VM Start menu appears, but OSX clearly had focus since we were typing in Terminal! I was screen sharing at the time, showing much of the underlying OSX is working, I could do all this as well as watch him do it. Windows could be see to be doing things in the VM, but would not respond to us, other than to show the Start menu as above. 1st time Finder was not running and would not run. Second time I''m not sure, I didn't see his system. So without Force Quit or Terminal or Activity Monitor (can't remember what happened here, but I know we tried it), we had no way to resolve this and force closed (long press on power button) the iMac. The second occurrence of the problem followed immediately after asking for Modal (Modality?) view which failed to respond. Any ideas? Seems quite bizarre! Thanks, Denis
