Following quick start guide I installed Parallels desktop and started it. When it asked for my activation key I entered it. It then asked if I wanted to upgrade to the newest parallels. I clicked continue and followed the installer prompts. After it asked for my password for the upgrade, it said it could not continue because Parallels was running, and to close Paralleles desktop. I did this, but the upgrade installer is hung - it has sat with no progress for an hour. I can't shut down the machine or close the installer window either, as MacOS complains that it is in the middle of an installation.
I had the same issue. I had to use Force Quit from the Apple menu to kill the installer. Then I was able to restart the installer and it all worked fine.
Thanks, that seems to have worked. I was nervous about the state of the thing if I forced it to quit.
