Hello, have a little problem and hope someone can help. Recently installed Vista using Parallel 3 on Mac Mini Core Duo 1.83, and have been attempting to set up windows media center in vista to work with xbox over a local ethernet network so that i can watch video's that I have downloaded off the net from the UK tv download service called BBC iplayer. Apparently this works fine on a regular PC, as long as the PC has an updated graphics driver. This has something to do with the fact that the programs that iplayer allows the users to download are DRM encrypted. Now. I have so far been able to successfully set up my XBOX as a Windows Media Extender, and can watch / listen to any thing that can be viewed from the Windows Media Center Folder. Which is pretty sweet, as the interface is quiet nice, better than the mac work around. The problem arises when I try and watch iplayer content (programs in WMV format that are DRM encrypted). As Windows Media Center or Player does not see the DRM encrypted files. So far, I have read that this can happen on conventional PC's if a clean installation of Vista has been performed which has installed a generic graphics driver rather than a chip set specific driver designed for your computers architecture. I was wondering if this was an issue that Parallel staff either knew a solution to or could work a solution out for, as it would be really cool to be able to watch iplayer programs from my tv rather than having to watch them on my boring computer. Any useful suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks Jus
hey there, i found your post because i've been searching for help with trying to set up streaming from WMC to my Xbox... i have been totally unable to do this - for whatever reason my system cannot find the Extender. i have the Xbox code and i enter it into the WMC setup, it starts the process, sets up the computer config (first checkbox) then it runs for about a minute and finally returns the error "Unable to find the Extender". I'm running Snow Leopard on a MBP i7 using Parallels 5.0.9x and with a Windows 7 VM. how did you manage to get your system set up (besides your issue with the DRM content)? i would've sent this as a PM but there's no contact info. any help would be appreciated. cheers, jpb
