I have been a macbook pro convert for a year now. When i first got my mac, i thought i needed to get Parallels installed to ease my segue into OSX so i could run any windows dependent apps. A year down the track i have not used Parallels, but now finally i have an application that i need to use on XP and i am having problems getting it going.

When first installed, it all worked no problems. Having not used it, my system has undergone some changes. For example last week i had to re-install OSX because of a problem i had when updating the OSX to 10.4.11. so now i am back to running 10.4.8. My version of parallels is Build 1848.2.

Today i tried to start parallels and it wouldnt start properly due to something missing. I didnt really take notice of what this problem was, but since i had to reinstall OSX last wek i figured something went astray so i just reinstalled Parallels. So i start up parallels again and then basically just press Play hoping windows would start up, and thats where the curtain rolls down and i have to do a hard shut down. I figured XP would be installed ok, and we just get going.

I could not find any trace of XP in my apps folder, so i am wondering if maybe it is not installed. (where would i find it on my mac?) Figuring it was not installed, i then followed instructions in the book, did a new VM wizard and wrote over existing windows XP VM, and then put windows CD in and had boot from CD option ticked. I then pressed play and the curtain rolled down again.

I am actually completely lost now.

    some config settings:
    acceleration: high
    modified : n/a
boot sequence: Hard disk, floppy, CD rom
    Auto Start: off
    VM state : Off

My system is macbook pro 2.33 GHz intel core duo 2, 2GB 667 MHz DDR2SDRAM,
Hard drive: Capacity: 111.47 GB Available: 39.49 GB

    Looking for guidance....
    Many thanks

    Rodney

    Hello,

please try to install the latest build 3214. Do you have US, UK or localized version of Parallels Desktop?

    Best regards,
    Stacey

    Rodney,

do you know where to find the latest build? I cannot provide you with the link unless I certainly know what version do you have. This could only be known if you send me your key via PM so I will be able to ask the OrderSupport group.
Build 3214 has better performance comparing to build 1848.

    Best regards,
    Stacey
