This evening, while working in build 4128, winxp home vm, got a warning dialog that the MacFUSE file system isn't responding.

I'm now unable to navigate around in windows explorer, to find a template I created for Word. I had been able to find it earlier this evening.

I've rebooted the mac. I'm still having that dialog warning come up.

As you can tell from the number of posts of mine so far, I'm new to parallels, have already been having problems, and am wondering about trashing the whole thing.

I'm running os 10.4.10 on a macbook pro. It's new, I erased and installed, then updated to 10.4.10, only creating several user accounts prior to installing parallels then winxp as the vm.

I had installed parallels and winxp in my user account, was totally unable to get them able to be used by other users, following all the suggestions of recent threads.

I uninstalled parallels from my user account, binned the parallels folder from my documents folder.

I then reinstalled parallels and winxp at my wife's account (she's the one primarily to use the win apps). It seemed to be working, and today I also had gotten the printer to work from Word.

Several times now the MacFUSE warning dialog has occurred, and I'm now not able to navigate around the winxp file system. Is macfuse something that was installed with parallels? Is it something that is inherent within the mac os? I've rebooted and the problem is persisting.

I'm not sure if the system log would help anyone with this, but here are the last entires.

    Okay, this is weird.
I had mentioned above, that I rebooted the mac, and was still having the problem with macfuse.

I gave up, logged out of my wife's user account to the login window, and left the mbp over night to allow the daily maintenance tasks to run.

This afternoon after getting home from work, I logged into my wife's account and launched parallels and the winxp vm. No sign of the macfuse notification. I was again able to navigate around the winxp file system, finding all that I should on that virtual C: drive.

And unlike posts I've found in another thread, my usb thumb drive was instantly recognized by the vm and parallels asked if I wanted it able to be opened in the winxp. At the time I plugged the usb drive into the usb slot, I was in Finder, anticipating copying my file into the shared documents folder. Instead, I was able to do everything from within winxp.

    Go figure.
