Is there a way to prevent my desktop icons from getting pushed up against the top left hand corner everytime Parallels decides to open my WinXP or Win7 windows smaller than almost full screen?

I mean I /get/ that this happens when the window is minimized but is there a workaround to having to live with completely disorganized desktop icons? I've taken to putting "like with like" into folders but this is still not quite enough if you use the desktop which I find convenient on my computer - as I do in real life.

Is this really an unsolvable problem for this software at this point?

    Thanks.

The problem is with Windows. You need a utility to save your icon positions. I googled and found Desktop Icon Toy. I haven't tried it though. There's probably other utilities that will do the same.

hi joe. many thanks. two quick follow ups. one on topic and one off topic.

if anyone knows of a free way to do this i'd ideally like to stay away from spending 10 or 20 to solve this one issue (nagging though it is).

also, can someone remind me if there is a way to get an email alert to responses to threads that I have posted or am interested in? alternatively is there a way to see "my posts" or to otherwise sort by my name? i see how I can quickly see who the most recent respondent is but if I can get an email alert or log in to my posts I don't have to spend time trying to find my posts which i seem to be losing very easily if i don't get back on in a day or two.

thanks again joe for the great help.

When posting, using the Go Advanced button. You'll see more options there including an option for "Instant email notification". Also, in the top right corner is "User CP". Go to Edit Options, then find "Default Thread Subscription Mode".

You can use "Search" to search for posts by you. You can also click the name next to a post, and find all posts by that person.

At the bottom of every thread is a "Subscribe to this Thread" option.
