I am running Parallels 4.0 and my computer crashed when the power went out. I am now getting an error msg... "SCSI controller is not installed Network bootrom is installed. Trying to boot from primary master IDE drive... a disk read error occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart" restarting does not work. i am using a hard disk image file, and the only troubleshooting i can find is for bootcamp. can anyone help
The error was somewhat common in Parallels 3.0, try the following steps: 1. Backup the virtual machine. This is absolutely necessary, just copy the .pvm file from /users/<username>/Documents/Parallels/ to some other place. (another folder, external hdd, etc.) 2. Go again to /users/<username>/Documents/Parallels/ right-click on .pvm file and choose "show package content" 3. You would see a file named winxp.hdd inside. Follow the guide: http://kb.parallels.com/en/4680 up to step 6. 4. When you will have the winxp.hdd, try creating a new virtual machine using Custom Installation mode based on this hard disk image.
