I have a MacBook Pro 15" Retina running Mavericks without an optical drive. I am trying to install WinXP under PD 8 from a(n) .iso file I created on my older MacBook which has an optical drive from a legit CD of XP I purchased some time ago.

I have tried creating the .iso using dd and hdiutil; the hdiutil version go me past pointing to the .iso file, entering the product key and custom config; but trying to boot from the Master IDE Drive, CD/DVD, etc. all fail. Has anyone successfully created a bootable .iso file on a machine that has an opto drive that can then be booted/installed on Parallels 8 on a non-opto-drive MBP?

Anyone have a recipe that works?

    TIA - Mike
