    Hi,

I had been running Windows XP on my MBP for a while now through Parallels. Windows takes up half my hard drive and I am getting less and less space. I had about 1GB of HD space left yesterday (and parallels was working fine). Now I'm down to 242MB. So I tried moving my Windows XP folder to a cleaned out, formatted external HD. I re-pointed my path to that set of files vs. the ones on my HD. I wanted to make sure it was working before I removed the files on my HD and got my space back. However, when I try to start Parallels, I get this error:

"Parallels Desktop failed to allocate the specified amount of memory.

Please restart Parallels and try again.

To avoid this problem in the future choose from the menu: Parallels Desktop > Preferences. On the Memory Tab select the "Enable Virtual Memory preallocation" option."

Actually, I was getting this error prior to re-pointing the path as well.

I had before about 1GB of Ram allocated to run Parallels, but didn't have the option selected...But even after selecting that I still get the message. I even tried to move my RAM down to 512 as it suggested. Still get the message.

So...what's up? Is my hard drive (or lack thereof) the issue still (even though I'm trying to pull XP from the external HD)? Also, I have 2GB of RAM and work probably 75% of the time IN Windows...what would be a good allocation of RAM?

What can I do to get this running again?

    Thanks!

    Dan

So it seems that HD size was indeed the issue...so it seems. I cleared out a few GB's and was able to launch XP from my external HD. Going to give it a few days before I remove the XP from the regular HD though, just to make sure.
