Some mice come with software and specific drivers that enable certain functionality. An example are the recent Microsoft mice. You install the following to enable some of the features: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/downloads/mouse-keyboard-center Here is an example. Does Windows see the mouse as the actual model you plugin to your mac, or does it see it as a generic mouse, meaning a lot of these features won't work in Windows. Specific example of a mouse are the current range of touch mice for Windows 8, and previous ones for Windows 7. Has anybody tried?
You can attach USB (or wireless w/ USB dongle) mice directly to VM via Devices > USB menu and install accompanying software.
Thanks, however am I right in saying that means it will only work in that VM. If I connect it to the mac, does it pass through the actual model of keyboard, or does it use a parallels mouse driver to present it as a generic keyboard? If so I understand that's not parallels fault. That's just the way its being virtualised. Just hoping somebody has tried it before I splash on a new mouse with specific windows features. It also has mac drivers, but I doubt that means the functionality will pass through to the vm
