I am running Parallels 7 on my black Macbook without any problems. However, when I save a program in excel (windows xp side) it automatically saves it as a pages file that opens on the mac side of things. When I try to select the file to open in excel on XP it tells me "not a valid Win32 application." Any thoughts? Thank you
This error message usually means you have ether virus in your virtual machine or the life is corrupted. As you said it happens with every file - i think the fist reason is yours. And it opens in pages not because the extension (extension should be xlsx and i am pretty sure it is). The reason is that you have Pages assigned on your Mac sie as default application for xlsx files. Change it: -right click and xlsx file in finder. -choose Get info -in Open With choose Excel and click Change all.
I am having the same problem. I am running W7 and XP Pro. Have MS Office on both. No problem with XP. On W7 there is no way to open a Excel File without Numbers. Even clicking on the file with Properties - there is not option to choose MS Excel on W7. (I also have MS Office for Mac. It is there.) Solutions? Every file is the same. NO viruses. The only way I can open the file is opening Excel first. Then if you Save it - close Excel - and then click on it to open it it comes up in Numbers.
You need to make sure you have all applications shared. Go to virtual machine configuration --> Options --> Sharing and check the sharing settings
