Has anyone tried to migrate an existing Windows Server 2003 (Standard, 32bit) machine to a Parallels Desktop VM? Will Parallels Desktop run such a server OS in the first place? Will Parallels Transporter work to migrate this OS?

I have attempted it, but migrating the server using Parallels Transporter failed every time. I have now installed Windows 2003 SBS Server onto an Xserve running the latest version of Parallels, so far it is working very well. I am currently in the process of manually shifting all of the data over. If you do manage to successfully migrate using the Transporter, you will need a new activation from Microsoft.

It's good to know someone has at least gotten the OS to run as a VM in Parallels Desktop. It's too bad about Transporter not working to migrate it.

    Hi ddfrye,

You shouldn't have any problem while migrating Windows 2003 as it's supported by Parallels Transporter Agent:
