I already have Windows XP Home installed on my iMac

If I "migrate" this into Parallels is the new VM separated from the bootcamp partition?

Or if I make a change in the Parallels VM, it would be there if I restart directly into bootcamp?

    Thanks, Paul

As far as I know Parallels just installs a bunch of extra drivers, dlls, and programs on your BootCamp partition. Thus, any change you do in BootCamp will also show up when you open that VM in Parallels.
With BootCamp, you assign a part of your hard drive to Windows, and your Mac essentially becomes a Windows machine. With Parallels, you run a Virtual Machine that happens to use the BootCamp partition as your hard drive.
