    Good afternoon.

I'm completely new to Mac, bought my first one last week and intend to install Parallels to the Mac then migrate my WinXP Pro SP3 installation via the wireless network. Seems straight forward enough (yeah, right!), but a question first....

My Windows hard drive is partitioned. OS and programs on the C drive, data on two other partitions. Will the migration process transfer only the C drive, or will my data partitions be moved across as well?

    Hello BJH,
Of course both drives from your native PC can be transferred to Parallels Desktop virtual machine. Please refer to the last part in this link which explains " Including & excluding " partitions from native Windows PC. As an alternative resource on this topic, we also recommend visiting this blog post.
    Thanks,
    Dhana.

Sorry, should have added... I don't actually need to migrate the data partitions as they've already been copied to an external drive, I just want to know what will happen!

Well, since you offered Pradeep... !
I downloaded the trial version of Parallels last night, but, being the nervous type when it comes to Mac computer matters, I want a fall back position in case a) it all goes wrong, and b) I decide to give this iMac to my grandson and go back to a Windows machine! Migrating the laptop installation is intended to be a temporary, try it out, installation as the laptop has a lot of stuff and Windows mess on it. If it works ok and I decide to keep the iMac, I will remove it and do a clean install of XPPro, and then install only the programs that I will need. So...

How would I turn back the Windows migration, and perhaps remove Parallels? Is it just a matter of uninstalling the programs, or do I need to get an external hard drive and get Time Machine on the job?

Sorry about the very basic question, I'd have no trepidation at all in Windows, but this Mac thingy is proving to have a VERY steep learning curve for me.

    Hello BJH,
Here is a way to uninstall Parallels Desktop 11 for Mac. Check this out for removing the Virtual Machine (Windows XP) from your Mac.
    Thanks,
    Guna
