i bought the perpetual version as well, thinking my Linux (with i3! not even a desktop environment!) would work with 8gbyte as well, but as soon as i open teams and a few browser tabs the VM becomes very slow. this is very bad for a paid product. it wasn't even cheap. please give us at least 16gbyte or else it is just somethink like a paid demo.

As a dedicated and loyal follower of Parallels. This will be my last upgrade version of parallels due to the 8gb limitation. I'll be damned to pay a subscription to unleash what should be available to all.

I have no idea what version of Parallels you're running, but under 19.1, I have the option of up to 54 Gb of memory and the "other" option in case I want to use my own custom amount of memory.

Parallels Desktop for Mac 19.4.1 - Which is the latest version.
This is being run on an Apple MacBook Pro M2 Max with 64gb ram and 4tb SSD.
The Desktop (non subscription) version of parallels is limited to 4 cores and 8gb limit.
As mentioned not willing to pay for a subscription to unleash the unlimited version, which IMHO should be included.
If you are able to change your memory settings and core settings, then you must have a subscription based version.
Unless you have a hacked/modified version of a non subscription Parallels?

Ahh, that makes sense now. I also run 19.4.1 but I run the Pro version (I test OS and applications for a rather large client). I run Parallels Desktop Pro for Mac, Version 19.4.1 (54985). Only £10 more and you can have a whole new lot of problems :D

Please increase the amount of RAM and CPUs for the VM! This limitation was introduced at a time where 4 CPUs and 8 GB RAM was quite a lot and got you going for the most part. But the technical evolution kept going and therefore the limitation should advance with it and increase to something that is equivalent to what was 4 CPU / 8 GB RAM back then.

I know this limitation is in place to make some money, but right now there is a huge gap between Standard and Pro. Just double it to 8 CPU / 16 RAM and there is still an incentive to upgrade to Pro for people who need more. But in 2024, this limitation does not make sense anymore.

No it does not. See the comparison of the different versions here: https://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/#compare

I agree, 8gb is unusable nowadays!

please stop this nonsense with the limitation, PD is with 8 GB Ram more like a Demo... I would agree to buy a higher Price for a perpetual license also, but this with the CPU Limitation and the Memory Limitation is really making loyal customers, leaving your platform for other VM products...
