This has happend to me a few times, and each time it happens it frustrates me.

I'm a software developer that does testing,so a good amount of time I am running parallels in te background, which is doing network things. Since windows is idle most of the time, i forget its running. So when I plug in a USB Hard drive or USB stick, Parallels "gobbles" it up and doesn't show on my mac. Having forgotten that parallels is running, I start flipping out, that the HD is broken, etc.

I know how to get parallels to release the drive, thats not my problem. What I would like is that I can change the "default" action of parallels to not immediately grab USB devices. I would rather them show up on the mac side, then tell parallels to mount them. Because if I am mounting a drive on my mac, odds its for the mac and not for parallels.

Go to the USB device configuration and deselect "automounting"
