I'm sure this has been hashed to death, and searching did find some interesting thoughts, but I wonder if there is a best-approach summary someone could post?

    ie:

I've got a Mini sitting in my basement with a few other boxes; the only way I use any of them is via 802.11 headless, so in the Macs case its ssh and VNC to the rescue. (I suspect ARD might be VNC compatible but I just use DarwinPorts to install 'osxvnc' and good to go.)

VNC works pretty well, though it seems to be confused by large redraws and occasionally doesn't detect all redraws, but in general works pretty darned well...

.. except in Parallels VM, where the mouse is all over the place; it would appear to be a conflict of acceleration or mouse-speeds, but I'm not sure that really makes sense, given theres absolutely no problem VNC to OSX proper, so one would think OSX to the VM would be fine as well. Introducing an extra layer could be the problem of course, but I'd hope it would work fine :)

The guest OS is Linux (Ubuntu 6.0.6 in this case), so no Parellels Tools I assume?

From searching I did find some interesting solutions; ie: run the X11 server for OSX, and then run an X session -display to the OSX X11 instead of the VMs native X11, and then just hide away Parallels. Thats pretty darned sick :)

    Any better approaches?

    jeff

    Thanks for any help :)
