Under Parallels 3 (build 5608), I installed Ubuntu 8.04.1 (no Windows install involved at all) onto a PowerBook Pro (under 10.5.4) and everything works fine (cheers!), EXCEPT:

    1. I don't know how to move a file/folder directly from my Mac into Parallels/Ubuntu.

    2. While I can insert a CD or DVD and get it to mount on the Ubuntu desktop, it always appears as an empty media (ie. NO files show up on it via the directory view in Ubuntu). I have tried CDs burned with Titanium Toast using these formats: Mac & PC, ISO, UDF (DVD).

Any help with either of these issues would be much appreciated. Thanks

    John,

do you mean, download an ISO file and write that to a CD, then see what happens? I am trying to transfer a bunch of data files residing on the Mac-side to the Ubuntu VM (my 1st query), so failiing to understand how to accomplish such a direct transfer, I decided to try using CD's as an intermediary (my 2nd query).... so far no joy on either way! I would gladly settle for a direct transfer and bypass the CD step, but it also bothers me that I can't get Ubuntu to recognize ANY CD I have written so far.

Why are you burning CD, and not using scp?
    man scp
    in Ubuntu console
