    All,
I have spent the last week doing a lot of testing with 2X application server as a replacement for Citrix in our corporation. Recently, our biggest push is trying to be platform independent. Unfortunately there are some apps that we cannot do without that only run effectively on Windows. What we like about Citrix is the web portal that anyone can login to from anywhere and access their applications (we currently use a Juniper SSL VPN for our users) regardless of what platform they are running. What we don't like about Citrix is the cumbersome administration, and the unbelievable cost.

Now, what we like about 2X is the cost and administration. What we don't like about 2x is the inconsistency between all the clients, and the web portal that only works in Windows. After some thought and extensive testing, I may have found the solution (listen up 2X!) for a multi-platform web portal that doesn't take too long to setup, and actually works very well in Windows and Linux (haven't had time for mac testing yet). It includes automatic login in linux without making the users enter their password more than once after logging into a SLED 10 sp1 w/ AD authentication.

I have a pdf here for anyone interested in this HOWTO:

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions..

    Also,
If anyone has a chance to do Mac testing, please let me know!

    Thanks,

    Changes (already):

I have found an error when launching the linux .2xl from a desktop without the ~/.tmp/passwd file present. I have added a file checker in the 2xl script for each app. The changes have been made to the documentation. Please review them here:

One thing to watch out for is the lack of proxy support in 2X. Citrix does have this feature.
