I have recently upgraded to Parallels 5 running Windows XP on a Mac with Snow Leopard. During Windows startup and periodically afterward I receive an error message as follows: Connection Failed: The server 172.16.1.38 is available on your computer. Access the volumes and files locally. I believe the address domain is my local wireless network. I have not been able to verify the device (38). Apparently Windows believes it must access a file or volume through the network in order to start up?? How can I turn this off or reset that pointer? Does anyone else have this problem?
I have the exact same problem after upgrading to v5 from v4, but my "Connection Failed" dialog is generic. Other than that, Parallels 5 works as expected. Can anyone chime in here? I have looked for network aliases, which seems to be the most common suggestion, but I have none or just don't know where to look for these. Anyone?
I recently uploaded and installed the most recent update from the Parallels website and that seems to have fixed the problem. Like yours, my problem came when I upgraded from v.4 to v. 5.
