Multiple cores advantages?

    I read some place Parallels doesn't support multiple cores in the guest OS, but doesn't Parallels use both cores when running as host? If so, doesn't this indirectly give the guest OS the additional processing power? What would the advantage of the additional cores inside a guest OS provide from a performance standpoint?
