I've seen this pattern before, and had to quit the app to fix. This one I was able to document.

First off, understand I'm talking about two guests:
    FROM - Windows 7
    TO - Windows XP

That is to say I dragged a file FROM a Windows 7 guest TO a Windows XP guest.

The fact that these are both windows based are negligible, as I have triggered a prompt under Ubuntu Linux in the past that was displayed in the Windows 7 guest.

When dragging the file between FROM to TO, a prompt for the TO window was displayed. The problem is that prompt was for the TO guest, but displayed under the FROM guest. Whats worse is Parallels seems to know this, because the prompt immediately disappears when the FROM guest becomes active. That is to say, the prompt is visible during the animation while switching between the TO guest to the FROM guest, then immediately disappears before I can confirm or cancel it.

What is worse, since the prompt is for the TO guest, the entire guest is completely locked up (because it's expecting me to confirm the prompt), but again since it's in front of the wrong guest and disappears immediately there is absolutely NOTHING I can do in order to be able to control the TO guest...

Again, to confirm the prompt is for the TO guest and not the FROM guest, it is ONLY visible when switching between the TO guest to the FROM guest. If I switch to the FROM guest from, say my primary desktop space, the prompt window does NOT display. I have two screenshots that confirm this pattern. One shows me switching from the TO guest to the FROM guest and you can see the prompt in question (again, once the FROM guest fully occupies the screen, that prompt disappears completely). The second screenshot shows that switching from my Mac Desktop to the FROM guest there is NO prompt. Understand though the prompt is gone in the second shot. Once I move back to the TO guest, then switch back into the FROM guest, the prompt comes back (then disappears immediately)...

I have had the application display a prompt on the wrong VM in the past. I cannot remember the root cause of that one, but I do remember enough to state it was not caused by dragging a file between VMs...
