I'll state my case first. I AM LAZY! I am absolutely delighted with the Mac / Parallels combination. The ability to switch from that behemoth Windows environment/hardware chaos to a system that works pretty well is awesome. Parallels (IMHO) are not ripping the guts (exploiting) out of what they market. Compared with Windows software just about ALL Mac software is reasonably priced and at least AS good if not better. I've posted a few times and as it turns out if I had RTFM, I would have been so much better off. Nevertheless, I posted and was received with courtesy and help - even when that help referred me to the manuals. It often doesn't refer me but patiently explains the stuff I would have found out had I read the manual. What surprises me on this forum is how quickly some people get wound up and really quite over the top. Especially when, often, we actually have the answer on our hard drives. No forum is perfect, it's not the nature of we human beasties (my wife is also a psychotherapist), but to 'go down the throat' of someone who is not only trying to help us - which includes interpreting what they THINK we mean, is not conducive to a good result. Yes it's frustrating when something doesn't work as advertised, but I've found that I've just got plain lazy. Instead of making the effort to research first, I'd rather post as it's easier. Plus, we (users) come across something unusual, from time to time which does need fixing. This is also the downside of not having paper manuals anymore - yes I know it's not environmentally friendly to print the manuals when we can use that paper/card to produce MacDonalds boxes instead. But you could take a manual to the loo or bed or whatever and have a read about an issue you had. OK, 'rant' over. Having been on a few, this really is an excellent forum, we need to preserve that in this increasingly frenetic world. Old-world patience, courtesy and consideration go an awful long way when people are under a bit of stress. So Parallels helpers - thank you, also those of you who like to help. You are appreciated - especially by newbies who should have read the manual first.
Then DO, show it to the boss (unless you're it). I am so pleased to find a developer/retailer that has such a forum and faces up criticism/observations face-to-face so to speak. As the saying goes 'Rome wasn't built in a day (if it was, they seriously f-d it up), many fixes will be affected by the code around it and I'm not naive enough to think ANYTHING in this world is an 'instant fix'. Apple seem to do so in their retail outlets and it is a PLEASURE dealing with them. It has rejuvinated my interest in the 'silver slab' rather than just what I do ON it. When I read through what I'd written, it all looked a bit 'syrupy', but you know, it's the truth as I see it, so I shall leave it.
