TL/DR: I have a .udl file on a Windows Parallel virtual machine that is attempting to connect to a database on a Windows 10 machine. Testing the connection through the .udl configuration interface says it is successful, but trying to use it with the program says it is invalid.

Brief story: I work for a chiropractic office and we've recently begun switching over to a new software for scheduling and stuff called ChiroTouch. This new software only works on Windows, and our front desk computer is a Mac. In an effort to not have to invest in a new front desk computer, we installed Windows Parallel and put the program on that.

We've installed the database for the new program on a Windows 10 computer and since then created a homegroup and have other windows laptops in the office successfully connecting to it. With that connection, I am able to access the ChiroTouch database on these laptops.

Now on the Mac, after doing some research I was able to join the homegroup with the Windows Parallel. The final step was connecting to the database and this is where it failed. It attempts to create a .udl file but it for some reason says it is invalid. This is the same steps I've done with our other laptops and it worked fine. The .udl file is exactly the same. And when I open the .udl file to configure it, there is a test connection button. Clicking it shows that the connection was successful. So I'm at a loss for what to do. This may be an issue with the program itself, so this forum may not be the best place to ask, but I figured I'd ask anyway.

I like to think of myself as tech savvy, but networking is not something I'm very familiar with and am just going off intuition with this stuff. Any help or tips is greatly appreciated.
