I have a Macbook Pro with Parrallels Desktop 3.0 with Windows XP in it. I have two questions (problems) that arose after I used Apple's migration assistant to move to a newer Macbook Pro (with 10.5 on it) and then upgraded the old machine from 10.4 to 10.5.

Issue 1: On the old machine, I get the operating system too old - downgrade current operating system message. I read the old forum entry from last year that said you could re-install parallels desktop without harming the Windows installation and virtual machine setup itself, or you could uninstall macfuse and re-install it again from Apple. Two questions: If you reinstall it, you would do it on the Mac side, not the PC side, right? Moreover, the command from the other entry does not seem to work. The forum post from Parallels support said to type into terminal: sudo /library/filesystems/fusefs.fs/support/uninstall-macfuse-core.sh. That warns me that there was an improper use of the sudo command and I may loose data. Do I just go ahead despite this message?

Issue 2: I imagine that I will have the same issue on the new machine, which also has 10.5 on it. But, first, I need to get into the machine.

When I open parallels either through the windows alias or via parallels itself, I get a warning that says: "Parallels Desktop is unable to attach to the network adaptor unknown. ... reboot and restart (which I did) .... "Otherwise, please check your machine's configuration and select another network adapter, or you will not be able to work with network connections inside your virtual machine."

My guess is that this happened because I did not know that static IP address that migration assistant asked me for for these connections at the end of the migration.

Either way, 1) Why can't I get the virtual machine open and not use the connections? 2) How do I setup new network connections that the virtual machine can recognize and use?

    Thanks.
