Network loss after resuming guest OS

Running Parallels Desktop 9.0.24229 on Mavericks and a Debian Wheezy 64 bit guest.
When resuming the guest OS from suspension, the eth0 network device is disconnected.
Issueing ifdown eth0 followed by ifup eth0 seems to correct this.

There seem to be a few post related to similar issues with Windows 8

• I do not place the host to sleep before the guest is completely suspended
• I run the guest in a Shared Network
• I use the Virtio network adapter (default choice) for this guest.

Any ideas what is happening here?
